Scientific ethics
The regulation on ethics in scientific publications of the journal «Machinery and Equipment for Rural Area» is based on the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The journal's editorial board adheres to the publication-ethics principles accepted by the scientific community, as reflected in the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). To avoid unfair practices (plagiarism, misrepresentation of facts, etc.), every board member, author, reviewer and publisher must observe ethical standards and take all reasonable measures to prevent their violation.
Author responsibilities
- bear primary responsibility for the novelty and reliability of the research results, and never make knowingly false or fabricated statements;
- participate in the peer-review process, answer reviewer questions and provide any necessary clarifications;
- guarantee that the research results are an independent and original work; borrowings and quotations must be accompanied by bibliographic references — plagiarism in any form is unacceptable;
- acknowledge the contribution of everyone who influenced the course of the research and disclose all sources used;
- submit an original manuscript that has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere;
- ensure the correct list of co-authors — only persons who made an intellectual contribution, each of whom has reviewed and approved the final text;
- promptly notify the editorial board of any errors or inaccuracies found in the manuscript or in an already-published article.
Reviewer ethical principles
- the author or co-author of the work being reviewed cannot act as its reviewer, nor can the applicant's research supervisor;
- any manuscript sent for review is a confidential document and must not be discussed with third parties;
- the reviewer must be objective, state their opinion clearly and with reasoning, and must not make personal remarks about the author;
- the reviewer must not use information or ideas from the manuscript under review for personal gain;
- the reviewer must not accept a manuscript for review in the event of a conflict of interest, and must decline if they took part in preparing the manuscript;
- the reviewer must inform the editorial board if, after submitting their review, they learn of facts that could affect their conclusions.
Professional ethics of the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board
- when deciding on publication, is guided by the reliability of the data, the scientific significance, originality and clarity of the article;
- must have no conflict of interest regarding articles they reject or accept, and evaluates a manuscript solely on its scientific merit;
- must not allow material to be published where there is sufficient reason to believe it is plagiarized;
- must preserve reviewer anonymity and must not leave complaints about reviewed or published materials unanswered.
Publishing ethics
The editorial board takes reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of materials that involve a breach of research ethics, ensures that all articles are reviewed by suitably qualified specialists, and respects the confidentiality of authors' and reviewers' personal information while protecting intellectual property and copyright.
